Well, I finally finished my first queen sized quilt. Whew! I don't understand how folks just punch these out. This quilt is a pattern from Moda Bakeshop and uses Kate Spain's "Verna" fabric line. We're very concerned here in Florida with the oil spill that took place in the Gulf of Mexico on April 20th. It is reportedly leaking 42,000 gallons a day. They are having difficulty stopping the flow of oil. Meanwhile, outer bank islands in Louisiana are starting to get the oil. As you may remember, I had a little "emergency" with my little wren applique. The berries bled... Thank you all for your concerns and suggestions. Really just adding a P.S. today. Here is a picture of my little teapot quilted up. Notice how nice and "poofy" it is. As recommended by Sandra Leichner, I used a wool batting and quilted around the teapot and at the end quilted right on the applique edges. Results: poofy!

  It was with great sorrow we received the news that Mike's (DH) father, whom we all called Pookey, died this morning. He follows his wife Jean who died two years ago. Pookey was a Marine in the Korean and Vietnam wars. He received the Silver Star for service in Korea. Tired of burned fingers, crimpy applique? This evening, as I was trying to avoid first degree burns on my hands, I reached in my drawer of tools and grabbed my Cricut Spatula.
